5 Ways You Can Meditate Despite Your Busy Schedule

No more excuses allowed!

Deep Meditation

It’s so so hard to take time out for meditation every day.

We all know it’s calming, we all know the long-lasting benefits of meditating daily, but still! We live in a materialistic world where a lot of outside factors control how we spend our days.

So, here are 5 easy ways you can meditate despite your busy schedule-

Don’t read books / watch TV while eating

Feel every bit of food you’re chewing. Count how many times you chew every bite. Slow down your eating process.

Think about the food items you are eating — about how they were cooked and served to you.

Feel the food going down your gut.

Have a “no gadgets” time daily

Maybe just for 30minutes. Do spend some time without any electronic device. Not necessarily doing anything.

Maybe you can just clean your cupboard, or sit in silence. If you have a kid/pet around, maybe just play with them. And be in that very moment.

Write a journal

There are numerous benefits of journaling. And no! Don’t use any electronic device to journal. Write with a physical pen and paper.

Think about how your day went. Maybe make a to-do list for the coming week. Analyse and record things.

Paper is always more patient than humans. So if you have something you need someone to talk to, maybe try venting out with a paper first.

Mindful walking

This is something I recently started. Instead of talking over the phone, or listening to music, or talking to yourself, I started focusing on my walking process — when I am walking.

Observe how you change your feet from one to the other to move forward — how you first place your toes on the ground and then your heels — how to lean forward a bit when you are in a hurry.

Sit in silence

Not necessarily in solitude. Maybe when you are in the metro, or in a cab — how about just sitting in silence?

Observe what everyone else is doing — how fast the world is moving — how everyone is speaking and running and doing everything just to avoid the “present moment”.

Meditation is a lot about being mindful of the moment. And no, you don’t need to pull out 1 hour every day to do it.

These 5 practices can help you become more mindful throughout the day as well.
